About Cojitha Senananyake
Christopher Benchley Youth Award
Cojitha “Coji” Sennanyake is an 18-year-old environmental advocate from Colombo, Sri Lanka. At just 16, Coji founded Cee Green, an initiative dedicated to promoting environmental awareness among youth. To support this mission, Coji authored two books—The ABCs of Climate Change and Myrtle, Burble, and the Green Thing—designed to make conservation concepts accessible to young readers. These books were distributed digitally, free of charge, to children lacking age-appropriate environmental reading materials through their school’s Quiz Club. Committed to inclusivity, Coji also converted the books into Braille and donated them to the Deaf and Blind School of Ratmalana, as well as to Sahanaya, the National Council of Mental Health in Colombo. In addition, Coji designed three jigsaw puzzles and a board game titled Seascapes, which celebrates the beauty of the natural environment. With a growing portfolio of educational tools, Coji now aims to bring this work to a broader audience.
